New cataract research
Researchers in London are trialling a new treatment for cataracts. In the two year trial patients will be treated using either standard NHS 'mono vision' lenses or revolutionary diffractive multifocal lenses. Where patients are treated with standard mono vision implants one eye will be given a long-distance lens and the other a reading prescription. The researchers are hoping to find the most cost effective way of treating cataract patients and eliminating their need to wear spectacles after surgery.
